Weltanschauung Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

We included the photo of this tree up in the Cloisters to remind you that it's still winter in most of the Northern Hemisphere.  We still have a couple of weeks until the Vernal Equinox and of course Punxitawny Phil told us we have six more weeks of winter.  The Cloisters are up on northern Manhattan Island and face the Hudson River.  A rather idyllic setting, amplified by the fact that the Cloisters look like a Medieval Cathedral.

Twenty miles visibility this morning with rain, sun, clouds and various atmospheric phenomena happening overhead.  Winds wee out of the SSW by 9.7kts and the sea surface had a heavy tack (almost chop.)  The air temperature was 54.2 and the water was a coldish 56.8.  Low tide was at 10:25am +0.1' and high tide is at 1:56pm +5.0'.  The buoy is reading a 4.9' swell out of 256 and we're calling it shoulder to head high if you're Poseur or Easky.

We hit Sapphire this morning and it was working nicely considering the winds.  The wind was so far out of the south that the rocks kept the chop down to about half that on the Topaz side.  If things smooth out a bit today, we might see some smaller but better shaped waves tomorrow.  Here's hoping...

Notes From Our Readers:

Professore (say it with an Italian accent),
Don't you feel bad about participating in Read America 2009!  Those students loved you! Well i guess I should ask what you read before assuming they loved it :)
Nice to know you are making good use of your retirement time. If schools were opened in the evening I'd join you.
Carol (Cavelli)
(Gee, what ever happened to night school?  Ed.)

Kewl, Prof, helping shape future Lunada Bay Boys [& girls, too, I guess].  Was the voiceover guy's last name Smith?  I can't remember his 1st name; I think he used to attend SLM. . .
Paver
(Uhh, I forget.  Maybe Xena has the list?  Ed.)

Don't be too intimidated! John Romano is a screen writer not a director. You may need to print a retraction.

Also, due to the thespian nature of the school, I don't believe you can publish the childrens' photos without written permission from their agents/parents!

The kids are asking when you're coming back! They loved you (almost as much as me!)

Xena

(Oh, now I feel a lot better - he's just a screenwriter!  So he just wrote "The Beast."  And what about that last line?  I can't figure out if they loved you more than me or if you loved me more than they loved me?  Think about it.  Remember how much bigger than me your husband is.  Thank you.  Ed.)
