They'll Be Back Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Today is St. Joseph's Day and the traditional day on which the swallows return to Capistrano.  We have no idea if they showed up or not.  We don't even know what time they're supposed to get there.  It's also the last full day of Winter and we're happy enough about that.  The whole Spring-Summer thing is always welcome in these parts even though everyone claims we don't have seasons.

A bit overcast this morning with some fog in the lowlands.  3 miles visibility and it looks like it might clear later in the morning.  Winds are offshore by 7.8kts and the sea surface is glassy.  The air temp is 54.2° and the water is up a couple of notches to 58.3°.  High tide is early at 4:23am +4.1' and low tide follows at 12:33pm +0.5'.  We have a swell spinning out of 239° at 2.6'.  The waves are right about waist high and looking a bit wally crashy even early on the higher tide.

Our photo this morning is our attempt at an Anne Geddes pastel study.  This happens to be Becca Burke sacked out on the couch trying to recover from the lurkis.  We thought that everything looked pink including the ailing Bec.  The good news is that she's better now.  The bad news is that we're not famous.

Notes from our readers:
On our St. Patrick's Day brogue:

Are you being Irish or a pirate?? heehee
                                          -Gidget

Speaking of Gidget she was having a great St. Patrick's day until some rogue Protestant broke into her apartment and stole her laptop.  The good news is that that's all they took (she had guitars, a violin and your basic toys.)  The bad news is that most of her life for the last 6 months was on that machine.  Poetry, design and photos all gone.  But she had a rather aggressive take on the situation:

"...Next computer I get is gonna be so security beefed that it's going to shoot razor sharp spikes through the hands of anyone who tries to steal it :)."

At least she put the smiley face at the end of that.  We'll be sure to remember to ask first before we check our mail when we visit - razor sharp spikes really piss us off.

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
