Thermotactic Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

As it happened, this morning we decided to include a couple of photos of annoying holes.  Hole #1 is a mousie hole we recently discovered behind the washing machine.  We were absolutely amazed by how perfect a mousie hole it was.  It looked just like the real mousie holes you see in the cartoons.  We took a photo of thresholdis rodentius and then immediately stuffed it with poisoned mousie bait.  Sorry, this doesn't have a happy ending...

Well the surf was good this morning!  Yep, it was partly cloudy, with more sunny than cloudy and 15 miles visibility.  Winds were offshore by 3.9kts and the sea surface was smooth to glassy.  The air temp was 54.3°and the water was 55.6° and would be a hell of a lot nicer if it would warm up.  High tide was at 9:50am +4.8' and low tide follows at 3:46pm +0.4'.  Out of 261° the buoy is reading a 3.6' swell.  But that swell mixed with a bit of the south swell is causing 4' to 5' waves and it broke right through high tide with some nice peaks and long walls that were holding up quite nicely.

Riding by as we were getting ready to go in was Big Wave Dave.  If it weren't for the tie he could'a joined us.  It looked like he was busy being a captain of commerce.

In photo the second, we have a shot of this rather large rip in the Professor's wetsuit.  He kept wondering why he'd fill up with all that cold sea water when he'd dive through the waves.  He'd reach back and the zipper would be nice and snug and still all that water would rush in.  You will find him this afternoon with rubber cement and thread taking care of that puka.

Endless summer it's not, but the weather has been pretty good this week, since the storm passed.  It's supposed to stay nice through the weekend and it looks like the swell might hang with us for at least a couple more days!  Check it out!
