True Blue Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Sorry, we're so late today.  We hate to admit it but we went surfing this morning.  Yeah we know that the water is full of awful bacteria and who knows what, but dammit the surf was good.  Anyway if you think that was bad - we went out yesterday too!

Visibility was 20 miles and skies were partly cloudy.  Winds are offshore by 5..9kts and the sea surface was deliciously glassy.  The air was a nippy 44.5℉ and the water was a surprisingly temperate 60.3℉.  Low tide swept through at 5:24am +2.3' and high tide was at 11:27am +5.7'.  The buoy is reading a strong 3.9' swell and it's hitting on a WSW angle and breaking at 3' with some larger outsides.

Our photo today is from Sunday evening at Manhattan Beach from their annual holiday fireworks program.  It was one of the more dramatic displays we've seen in recent years.  A lot of families rode their bikes or hiked in from the surrounding territories.  We managed to get invited to Dr. Bill Glenn's pad, high above the Strand on 2nd St.  Bill is a radiologist with a glowing reputation.  Marie Curie would have been proud...

From the e-mailbag:

On our lunch with Ken "Zorro" Schwartz
He does look like Ginsburg, especially his eyes.  Did Zorro have any insights to your soul,  or in general, that we may benefit from?
                                                                                                                                                                        Carole Cavelli
Zorro is not able to see into our soul, but does carry a "Magic 8-Ball" with which he can take an educated guess.  Actually, he can see into most souls, but ours appears to be especially murky, especially at this time of year.  His only other insight was "...to diversify."  And we did so as soon as we got to a telephone

Boomfwappa Says:  "A boat parade?" Just another #%^^ing excuse to get drunk and then go eat Mexican food! That's what Boomfwappa says!!
Finally, something we can agree on!  Yes, that's exactly what it's for.  Unfortunately, this year the wind blew so hard that only four boats trekked out of the docks and the rest of them stayed tied up, while their crews drank and ate Mexican food.

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
