St. Patrick's Day Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Wow!  St. Patrick's Day starts early in these parts.  We headed up to the Cove to check it this morning and Bobby Warchola was there looking at it.  This was about 7:15am.  The Cove already had 20 guys out and the Professor and Bobby had a chat.
BW:  This is a mad boozin' holiday!
Prof.:  Yeah, especially if you're Irish.
BW:  You know there's a place on PCH in Venice that opens at 4:30am.
Prof.:  Brennan's?
BW:  Yeah, I think that's it.  Last year I was headed to Malibu and it was 5am and they already had a DJ pumping music and they we're pumping beer and Malibu was pumping too.
Prof.:  Dude!
BW:  Mark and Brian were there one year.  That's a drinkin' crowd, that is...
Prof.:  So, you headed to Venice or Malibu?
BW:  Hey, there are cops everywhere!  Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan, anyplace where there's a Hennessey's...
Prof.:  I'm thinking Hermosa, with a bicycle and training wheels...
BW:  Dude!

Righteously beautiful morning as the sun jumped out of the east like it's pants were on fire.  20 miles visibility, under mostly sunny skies with light offshore breezes at about 1.9kts.  The sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature at checkout time was 58.5° and the water was 57.6°.  We checked again this afternoon and water temps have risen into the low 60's!  Let's hope that's a trend.  High tide is at 10:50am +4.3' and low tide will be at 4:36pm +0.8'.  The buoy tells us that there's a 265° west swell coming in at 3.3'.  We surfed Torrance this morning with Miloe and it was 3' on the inside and the outside had these bombers that were so damned unkind.  You'd think that after all of these storms, the bottom would have a few channels and sand bars.  But that doesn't seem to be the case.  Even the rising tide didn't seem to be a help.  Despite all that, Miloe and the Professor each got a good one, so the day wasn't a washout.

Mail Box:
Thanks for all the press but it is actually Patrick Molloy's.  I am not familiar with the formula for keg consumption, I just hope that we sell all of them!  Erin Go Bragh!  Cheers,  Alice (Hahn)

Go with the Keg . . . you get a free 1/2 case!!!
Big Daddy
(Duly noted... Ed.)

Drive, ride, drink responsibly tonight.  There could be good waves tomorrow!

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
