Lost Boys & Co...

Okay, this looks like an intro to a Jet Li film, with a close-up of his prison deep within the bamboo forest.  Bamboo so thick the birds couldn't hop around through it.  Actually, this is another shot of the sculpture on top of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  It's going to be there awhile, so if you're in the neighborhood...

Sun's trying to break through the haze this morning and we have 10 miles visibility.  The winds onshore from the get-go by 5.2kts and the sea surface is sporting a medium tack.  The air temp is 61.2° and the water hits an all-time new low of 58.8° for this date.  In all fairness it's about 63 to 64 in the surfline, but it's still way below normal, even for you and me.  Low tide is at 6:13am +0.7' and high tide follows at 12:44pm +4.5'. The buoy is reading a 2.6' swell out of the SSW at 194°.  We're calling it 2' with some rideable peelers at select breaks that shall remain nameless, unless you think Danger Boy and the Professor have lost their minds...

The second photo is one we call, "Hear no evil, see no evil, sleep no evil."  It looked like a Guy Buffet painting come to life.

We like to visit some of the galleries when we visit Nueva York and when we wandered into the Nyehaus Gallery, it looked strangely like a surfboard shop.  Why?  Because they were having a show called "Swell."  Not only were there paintings and 2-d art, they also had a raft of surfboards, like the ones pictured.  When the gallery manager saw us looking so intently she came over and asked us if we were interested in purchasing one of these beauties?  Now we were really confused.  She explained that these were part of a collection and they were all for sale!  So, we said, "What about this Mike Hynson red fin?  How much?"  She gave us this weird look.  "How did you know that was a Mike Hynson Red Fin?  We said, "Because everyone knows that."  She said that everyone did not know that and that she wouldn't have known it unless she had the list in front of her.  So we proceeded to walk down the line and describe each board, only missing a couple that we weren't familiar with.  So she says "You've gotta talk to the curator.  She's over at the gallery down the block and she needs to see you!"  "That's okay, said the Professor, "but how much is the red fin?  She looked down the list and said, $15,000.  "Holy shit!"
To be continued...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
