NJ Turnpike Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

We have to admit that on the right coast they really encourage the arts.  Here is an example.  We have no idea what the hell it is, but there it was, on a little triangle of grass, just off the traffic circle, near the beach in Long Branch.  It stood about 8' high, covered with shells and looked like a buried elephant checking things out with it's trunk before surfacing.  LoLa thought it looked like a periscope and Keeks thought it had more of a tentacle tendency.  Our friend Sigmund thought it looked like a bent dick.  Ouch!  Dude...

To no one surprise, it's overcast again this morning and it's not appearing to make any attempt to clear up soon.  Visibility is 7 miles and the haze is gray and persistent.  Winds have been inclined to be onshore since daybreak and are currently 2.5kts, with a smooth sea surface.  The air temperature is 60.3° and the water is 63.0°, suggesting that even if you are dyslexic, it might not make too much difference.  High tide is at 11:23am +4.3' and low tide will be at 4:31pm +2.0'.  The 46221 buoy is reading a W swell out of 263° at 2.6'.  We're calling it 1' and poor and if you follow the Weather Underground, they are suggesting it's a good day for golf.  We have never seen the surf quite as bad as suggesting golf would be more entertaining, but we would think about playing if you had to get the ball in the hole of that sculpture we saw!
