Mountebank Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Sitting here on the lanai looking out on the gray.  It's July 12th and it looks like it's June 1st.  Cold, gray and little teeny waves slapping the shore.  Oh, yeah, and there's wind too.  How'd you like to be in Junior Guards this summer?  The morning session?  Your nipples just get hard, turn blue and then fall off...  We hate it when that happens...

By the numbers:  Visibility: 5 miles under overcast skies.
Wind:  Out of the West 2.7kts.
                            Sea surface:  Smooth.
Air Temp.:  60.5° (High today:  73°, maybe)
                            Water Temp.:  63.1°
                            High Tide:  11:10am +4.3'
                            Low Tide:  4:02pm +1.8'
                            Swell Direction:  216° SW
                            Swell Height:  2.3'
Wave Height:  1' - 2' Poor to Flatulent

Last couple of photos from the 4th:  Bill Balcer, Danger Boy and Ché Barahona line up for some linguiça as the buffet line disappears in the distance.  TJ, Zoë and Margot (excellent job on the dessert by the way) warm up with some coffee to keep from freezing up.  We noted on this day the high temp in Redondo Beach was the same as that in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  That sucks...

(Note:  Short week coming up.  We'll be heading for the right coast on Thursday for a wedding at the New Joisey shore.  Reports will be sporadic, cryptic and probably shorter than usual.  Be back on the 25th.  Our plan is to document some of the eastern beach culture and ride some hurricane inspired waves.  Stay tuned...  Ed.)
