Our Forefather's Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

"Okay, you've had it long enough..."  Jah Morgan retrieves her commemorative noserider from the Hermosa Surf Museum (#1).  She's now ridden over 1100 days in a row and shows no signs of slowing down.  The board was given to her to commemorate a year of surfing every day...  Another year and she may get a velocipede...

Fog this morning (#2) and this shot up Sapphire St. actually makes it look clearer than it was.  Visibility ranged from 100yds to a quarter of a mile.  Winds were light out of the NE and there was a slight bump on the water, settling down as the morning progressed.  The air temp was 53.3 and the water is 60.3.  High tide was at 6:24am +6.2' and low tide will follow at 1:43pm -1.0'.  This morning there was a west swell out of 261º at 8.2' and it was 5' to 7' and bigger in Hermosa and spots to the north...  Should be calming down a bit in the upcoming week, although there's a big wind event forecasted for Monday, with winds to 30mph.  On Sunday evening there will be a "Blood Moon" which, of course, is something to feel sanguine about...

The Japanese think that the sound of Camellias hitting the ground sounds like snow falling from branches.  They breed some species to mimic that sound.  We have no idea what these (#3) sounded like...  If camellias fall and no one is there, do they make a sound?  On the other hand, the fuchsias screamed all the way to the pavement...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
