Weatherproof Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

This image (#1) is from Clark Little on the north shore.  Clark is Brock Little's brother and has become famous in his own right for his photography of breaking waves and the shorebreak.  He's got a documentary called "Shorebreak" and it's a "must see."  In a number of images Clark has captured these little vortexes climbing up the back of breaking waves.  We've never seen this phenomenon, but you can be sure we'll be watching for it...

Hazy sun this morning with 10 miles visibility.  Winds were offshore by 3.6kts and the sea surface was smooth. The air temperature was 52.5 and the water is holding at 60.4.  High tide was at 5:25am +5.3' and low tide will be at 123:48pm -0.1'.  We have a west swell out of 267º at 2.6' and it was 3' to 4' breaking on that sandbar off the corner of the berm...  Rain predicted for the morning, but we'll check it out!

Here we have Clara Bow (#2), known as the "IT Girl" during the roaring 20's, presumably because she had "it."  It was sent to the Professor by Bama Burke, who wondered if Clara was related to the family since she had the hat, surfboard and a firearm...  Turns out the Professor's mom had been a big Clara Bow fan, maybe there was something more than we knew?

Jah Morgan's new whip (#3)...  Tints, pinlines and those really cool wood/foam/wood stringers make for a real classic ride...

The other day a couple of the Mermaid Swim Team told us about using conditioner to get our wetsuits off...  We said, "Yeah, we'll try it..."  and didn't think much about it until we actually gave it a try.  Holy smokes!  You put a sploosh of conditioner on the legs and another on the arms and your wetsuit comes flying off like it was possessed.  Honestly, we've been wearing wetsuits for 50 years and struggling with them for all that time and NOW we've learned how to make taking them off pretty damned easy.  Try it, you'll be amazed...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
The Professor!!
